A funny article in the New York Times about a young married Jewish couple celebrating Christmas for the first time:

Or does Adam Sandler bear a remarkable resemblance to Bob Dylan in "Reign Over Me"?
Saw the trailer for the aforementioned film while waiting for "Pursuit of Happyness" to start. Good movie, not cheese, but still emotionally manipulative.

Tim is away for two weeks + a few days, so I'm pet-sitting his rats in the interim. Well, it's the singular "rat" as of tonight at 7:30pm. I stopped by today and his female rat, Shelby, was acting very lethargic and couldn't even bring a small cherry tomato to her mouth, all she wanted was to hide somewhere and go to sleep. After consulting Tim, I took the rat to the emergency room. 3.5 hours of waiting, two x-rays, and $200 later, the inevitable decision was to put her down because her tumors were getting so big (rats get tumors very easily) and preventing other organs from functioning properly. She wasn't going to get better no matter what we did.
It's surprising how attached I got to Shelby after two months. I really liked Shelby, she was my buddy, she used to just sit in my arms and cuddle. Before she died she was acting more active and social, and so suddenly she's gone. It's actually pretty hard coming to terms with the fact that I won't ever see her again. Sucks even more for Tim because he didn't get a chance to say goodbye.

I've had my eye on the Eames LCW for several years now. This may come as a lemming move since a couple of my friends also own this chair and it's totally drool-worthy, but the desire to own a piece of design history hasn't waned a bit. Now that I have the means to buy this chair, what's the hesitation?
Pros:
It looks good
High resale value (probably appreciates in value if kept in good condition)
Lots of online sellers having sales in time for the holidays
Price will go up 5% in 2007
Cons:
Might not be comfortable
$$$
Takes up space
$$$

Buy the chair?
If "yes", what color?
I can't wait to eat some Thanksgiving turkey! Gotta wake up early tomorrow to make gravy, mashed potatoes, and apple crisp for potluck dinner at a friend's house.
I've never made a list like this before, but things to be thankful for:
I'm thankful for all the people who have stuck around, this includes my friends and family. I was very lucky to get to meet some really wonderful people and become closer friends with them, as well as keeping in touch with old friends. None of this would be as fun and interesting without my motley crew.
I'm thankful for the direction my life is going, my career continues to excite me and is one of the things that bring me happiness because I'm contributing to society, it's intellectually stimulating, I work alongside some really fun coworkers, and of the fact that it pays me well enough so that I can vacation in other countries. I'm glad to finally find one form of physical exercise (rock climbing) that helps me get stronger, meet new people, get outside, and also continuously learning/figuring out things.
Something else I'm really thankful for, perhaps in a bittersweet way, is that I was able to fall in love not once but twice this year to guys who are really awesome in their own ways. It's definitely been an eventful year in the soap opera that is my life.

No less than 5 times tonight did my friends ask me, "How did your date with Socks go?"
When did this become common knowledge?
Yes, I met a dude at a party last weekend (who was wearing shorts with black socks and black shoes, therefore we have bequeathed him the nickname "Socks"). Yes, there's some mutual intrigue. Yes, we've exchanged emails about meeting up in a platonic way. But other than that, I know as much as anybody else. And oh yeah, he's allergic to cats. That's a ton of relationship potential right there.
Since when did inquiries about my love life start being mentioned in the same sentence as, "Are you excited about the season premiere of Lost on Wednesday?"

I was scared that I was a dork, or worse, a geek:
Pure Nerd 65 % Nerd, 43% Geek, 8% Dork |
For The Record: A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia. A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one. A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions. You scored better than half in Nerd, earning you the title of: Pure Nerd. The times, they are a-changing. It used to be that being exceptionally smart led to being unpopular, which would ultimately lead to picking up all of the traits and tendences associated with the "dork." No-longer. Being smart isn't as socially crippling as it once was, and even more so as you get older: eventually being a Pure Nerd will likely be replaced with the following label: Purely Successful. Congratulations! Just got back from the dentist for a deep cleaning for the right side of my mouth. An hour and half of drilling and scraping is really unbearable, even with modern comforts like a comfortable mouth propper opener/tongue shield/drool sucker, warm jets of water and air for rinsing, and movies. It really hammers home the message: don't forget to floss.
On the other hand, the right side of my mouth is numb, it provides hours of entertainment. It was really funny when I tried to eat spaghetti just now.

You are driven by a higher purpose than most people. You have a deeply-rooted desire to facilitate peacefulness in the world. Whether through subtle interactions with love ones, or through getting involved in social causes, it is important to you to influence the world.
You are driven by a desire to encourage others to think about the positive side of things instead of focusing on the negative. The reason your unconscious is consumed by this might stem from an innate fear of war and turmoil. Thus, to avoid that uncomfortable place for you, your unconscious seeks out the peace in your environment.
Usually, the thing that underlies this unconscious drive is a deep respect for humankind. You care about the future of the world, even beyond your own involvement in it. As a result, your personal integrity acts as a surrogate for your deeper drive toward peace and guides you in daily life towards decisions that are respectful toward yourself and others.
Take the test, then wade through lots of "Free offers" to get your results.

Went to Jeff's house last night and the cat was following me around a lot, she ate half a can of food then started on the dry food. As I was cleaning the litterbox, I heard a loud sqawk. Looked behind the couch, there they were, a pile of kittens! There are 5 kittens, one orange tabby, two black, one grey tabby, and one tortie just like mom. They're looking big and healthy. Pepper the mommy seems to love motherhood, whenever the kittens are feeding on her, she's rolling around like she's enjoying it, and she'll pet the kittens and rub her face all over them. She's also being very sweet with me. Here are some pictures and videos taken with my phone:
